How to process customer data deletion requests

Fairing no longer manually processes data redaction requests. To ensure your request is handled securely and in compliance with privacy regulations, you must use Shopify's automated process.

Processing Data Deletion Requests

When you receive a customer data deletion request, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Shopify Admin

  2. Go to Customers

  3. Select the specific customer whose data needs to be deleted

  4. Click More actions

  5. Select Erase personal data

This process will automatically trigger Shopify's customer/redact webhook, which Fairing is subscribed to. This ensures the deletion request is processed properly and securely.

Important Notes

  • Do not send manual deletion requests to support - use the Shopify automated process instead

  • The automated process ensures compliance with privacy regulations

  • All customer data associated with the email address will be removed from Fairing's system
