Setting up post-purchase surveys on Shopify checkout extensions

If your post-purchase surveys aren't appearing on your thank you or order status pages, you likely need to add Fairing app blocks to your Shopify checkout extensions.

Adding app blocks to checkout extensions

When you migrate to Shopify's checkout extensions, you must manually add the Fairing app blocks to continue collecting survey responses. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Shopify admin and navigate to Settings > Checkout

  2. Add the Fairing app block to both your Thank You page and Order Status page

  3. Make sure to save your changes after adding the blocks

Testing your setup

After adding the app blocks:

  • The Shopify editor will only show a generic preview - this is normal

  • To see the actual survey, place a test order using an email address that hasn't previously answered your questions

  • If your question is set to "new customers only," make sure to use a completely new email for testing

Legacy checkout users

If you're still using Shopify's legacy checkout (not checkout extensions), follow the instructions in our legacy checkout documentation instead.

Troubleshooting

If surveys still aren't appearing after adding the blocks:

  • Confirm you've added blocks to both the thank you and order status pages

  • Verify you clicked save after adding the blocks

  • Test with a new email address that hasn't previously answered your survey

  • Allow a few minutes for changes to sync - there may be a slight delay

Note: If you have other apps on your checkout pages, you'll need to add app blocks for those as well to ensure they continue working properly.
